Finished entering changes. Aside from comparing print and ebook and a final proofreading pass, text content should frozen. *whew* Onward to print formatting, artwork, and cover design tasks. Had a few spots of unattached time with WiFi while traveling this weekend, and by grazing on my phone built up a list of about 20 potential pieces of interior art, which I need to whittle down to 6 that will reproduce well in black and white (they're all black-ink paintings, but some are on yellowed paper).

Another excerpt: Getting frosty now )

Goals for today: Dig into CreateSpace templates, and settle on a trim size. Stretch goal: settle on text and heading fonts, lay out page headers and footers. If there's time this evening, tinker with cover designs.

I AM STRUGGLE. In short, I have been having a hard time just sitting down and doing the work lately. I'm sure it's just perfectionism/fear. My go-to solution for this is just sitting down with a timer and Doing The Thing for just five minutes. And then doing more if I want, but also stopping if I want to. However... even just the idea of sitting down to do it is kicking up hella avoidance. It's been like trying to walk up a steep vertical surface; nay, a wall. So, tonight's goal: FIVE MINUTES. And I've typed it here, so: accountability. ;)

We've had a cold snap with constant rain, so the strong urge to curl up and sleep is STRONG. But I'm going to fight!

It's 759 words. The end doesn't quite have the "kick" I would like. I'll let it stew a while.

I realized another thing I need to do this week: Yuletide signup and Dear Author letter. I have to say I find those as tough as the actual writing assignment, so I'm going to count them as "getting shit done."

I had my eyes dilated for an examination today. I think they're finally getting back to normal, now that it's almost time for bed.

Yesterday was the reading of The Spanish Tragedie at the local library, which went pretty well. (Although the guy playing the King of Spain dropped a HUGE chunk of lines right at the end, talking about bodies that hadn't been killed yet. One of the actors just went ahead and killed them anyway, and another actor made up enough shit to finish the scene.)

I was then prevented by doing anything else productive by having a lapful of two cats while I watched the Amazon/BBC King Lear. (I was mostly interested in Emma Thompson's Goneril, since I played that part ten years ago with another Shakespeare group. The rest of the production was disappointingly so-so, in spite of all the famous names in it.)

Tonight I worked on more Fictober prompts.
