I see that this group hasn't been active for over a year, but I'm not going to let that stop me!

I'm all about getting shit done!

As a person with ADHD, I always have to wrestle with my mind's block against getting the stuff done that I need to work on!

Anyone else belong to Body Doubling and Accountability groups? Today I am Partner Pact-ing to get stuff done!

Reki and I (mostly Reki) reorganized the bookshelves today.

Now, they are organized by category (as much as possible).

White Shelf:
• Childhood fiction books and contemporary fiction from favourite authors.
• Completed notebooks.
• Language, history, and general nonfiction (heavily tilted toward architecture and environmental topics)
• International folklore, Indigenous and Deaf authors, classics, then contemporary fiction (ran out of shelves).

Black Shelf:
• Tarot and divination sets
• Egypt, paranormal studies, symbology, and physics.
• Indie books (zines, staple-bound works, art books) and in-progress notebooks.

Three books (one of Mayan folktales that was disappointingly Abrahamic, and two international relations textbooks) were moved to the donation pile.

I set aside a lot of folders and university notebooks to sift through later.

Bonus: A packet of tea was finished. The goal to decrease the tea stockpile has made progress.

Not too bad

I did get *some* things accomplished this month! Not as many as I had wanted, but I accidentally got some other things done, so I'll call it a wash. :D

I got all my textured earrings done - 35 pair in all! While I didn't make any pendants or rings, I did start sketching ideas for the settings, so I now know what I want to do with them. I have to remind myself that percolating on ideas and sketching are part of the process too!

I managed to get the cat tower done, yay! The cats are happy to have it back in the living room by the window again.

Accidental thing #1: I sewed pillow covers for my bed and sofa, they came out nice. I learned a trick from a YouTube video that to have them look the best, cut the fabric the same size as the pillow form and sew a 1/2" seam. It seems weird to cut 20"x20" fabric for a 20" pillow, but IT WORKS. I had them on my sewing table for months, so it was nice to get them done!

Accidental thing #2: I had to buy a new top for my 10x10 craft show tent, and I discovered that it has velcro all around the edge for the side walls - so I decided to sew the opposite velcro on my wall panels and re-sew all the zippers. It'll be much easier and nicer to put up the walls using the velcro instead of the straps.

And the rock cabinet is all done and the rocks are all numbered and back in! It's nice to have all the fluorites on their own shelf, all the pyrites on their own shelf, etc. I like collecting minerals that have different colors/forms depending on their locality. My geologist friend approved and said now I need to get more rocks, LOL. Very happy with the LED strip light.

A round of applause to everyone that got at least something on their list done! I'm really glad we did this.

I finished rearranging the apartment (for now). The two BIG furniture items remaining have been relocated.

The media centre has been sentenced to the corner wall beside the pantry - it isn't used often and people have not been fans of the Shrine To TV in the living area. It's still accessible, but very pointedly shoved somewhere out of the way. The prime living area space is now occupied by a table serving as a desk and work bench. Much better.

Part of doing this meant clearing three drawers from the table (it's a folding table with storage) and everything from its surface - which is now mostly in a box and waiting to be sorted. That is a task for another night.

Kama did several iterations of 'Let's rid MORE stuff from the freezer!' over the past few days and it is a lot roomier now. (Also, he was the one who started overhauling the apartment a few days ago. It's been entirely reorganized down to the furniture in the rooms. He put a lot of clothes and fabrics into bags for donation/selling, tossed a big trash bag full of pantry items that had been waiting to become ingredients for years, and reached some kind of decluttering enlightenment.)

And he did a small but Good Thing in declining a favour request this morning. It would have gone terribly. Guilt over both declining and trying but having it Go Terribly was setting in. He said no.

Okay, soooo:

I managed to at least finish two specific goals, which is better than none, and I did study a lot. Didn't accomplish as much as I wanted, but the circumstances were pretty much against me. I actually tried and invested more time than usual in getting shit done, so I'm not totally dissatisfied.

Thank you to everybody who took part in this month's challenge (and to those who cheered from the sidelines)!

Not much progress. But I have managed to get some shit done, just, not as much as I wanted.
  • Chores.
  • Studying.
  • I drew a little bit today! A couple of quick studies to warm up and learn the characters. I've also been looking for references.
  • Exercising like it's my job. Sounds exciting, but they are actually boring and carefully executed movements to regain mobility, nothing like the scenes in the movies when the protagonist gets in shape to attain their goal. I wish.

So far I have...

☽ Deep cleaned the second cat box. Both have now been cleaned.

☽ Reorganized the tea and coffee drawers, clearing out one full drawer and setting two unopened tea packets aside to ship to friends.

An aside: Tea Runners is an excellent tea subscription, especially so if you enjoy swimming in teas.

☽ Put white sugar in a free container. Rinsed a newly-freed container from the tea drawers and will put powder sugar in it once dry. (There's always one ingredient in every pantry that winds up in surplus because it receives so little use you don't remember you have it when you need it for a recipe, and end up getting more. Powdered sugar is that ingredient in this pantry.)

☽ Stretched for somewhere between 30 minutes and an hour. It hurts so good. Flexibility is coming back.

☽ Put laundry in.

☽ Reorganized small bin storage so that blankets are all together, the yarns now have their own box, and exercise items are all together in a convenient, reachable location where they are regularly used.

☽ Swept the porch of birdseed husks. Trimmed out dead leaves and vines. Watered the plants.

Need to do...

☽ Finish the laundry.
☽ Take out sandbag (read: cat litter) and other trash
☽ Get the dustbunnies under the couch. Actually, I think they're furkittens.
☽ Respond to two emails (the hardest one)
☽ Work on something for the Gallery?

Okay, I didn't really work on my established goals but I did quite a lot of things these days and it definitely counts:
  • Phisiotherapy and exercises.
  • I CLEANED THE WHOLE DAMNED APARTMENT TODAY. I don't know what got into me.
  • Glued a broken glass.
  • Worked on cleaning a mirror that some students used for a project and painted with fucking acryllic paint. Acryliic paint is basically latex, so the moment it dries, it won't get dissolved with fucking anything. I didn't finish because it was too straining on my shoulders, but now I can sort of see myself in it?
  • Did a mixtape (the digital version of it) for a friend who lives abroad and is visiting.
  • A tiny bit of adulting.
  • Worked on redoing a parody of the Teleshopping commercials. I made a video fifteen years ago about it and now that my nephew wants a copy, I've seen that the audio is corrupted and that means re-editing the whole thing from scratch on After Effects because it was a lousy Power Point presentation that won't work on Open Office and I refuse to install Microsoft Office just for this. So, redoing it in After Effects it is. Fuck my life. The hardest part that required a bit of animation is already done.
  • Studied a bit. I've finished adding new characters for the moment.
  • Cooked quite a lot.

Okay, not much progress, I've been mostly feeling sorry for myself and didn't feel like doing much, but, BUT, the pace at which you all are attaining goals has sort of piqued my competitive streak and I managed to finish the KF fic today. Still needs some serious editing because I'm unsure about the ending (it contains crack and I'm always extremely insecure with crack, it's very easy to alienate readers with a different sense of humor, but the source material sort of asked for it?). Hopefully this will allow me to jump to the next goal (paperwork and drawing), since this was kind of blocking me.

So, in any case, yeah:

  • Writing (and finishing the first draft of the KF fic).
  • Studying quite a lot.
  • Doing exercises for the shoulders (and some for the knees and for the back, too).

By Autumn...

★ Clear out at least half of the freezer (with the goal of doing this before October, to start storing meat from the local markets to use over Winter)

★ Use up six boxes of pasta from the pasta stash (reward for doing this: can get materials for koshari)

★ Complete three more fabric projects (looking at: the belt bags, the media centre monitor cover, and the quilting on a canvas bag)

★ Sell or donate the clothing that's been set aside for such

★ Find/make a space for the camping equipment

★ Move all the spare blankets into the big storage basket

The fabric stash has been in the process of being used up/depleted.

I ironed the two fabrics that had been set out and washed. Now they're hanging to dry.

Once they're dry, they'll be cut into pieces to make belt bags.

What a pain in the ass. Once I finally mathed the hole spacing properly (OMG), the hole drilling wasn't too bad. The strip lighting was pretty easy, and I drilled a new hole in the top so that I could hide the wires. This lighting is sooo much better than the two "puck" lights that were at the very top - this strip lighting lights ALL the shelves!

Now I have to get all the rocks put back in! I'm about 3/4 done with marking and cataloging them.

Okay, I've been doing shit, I swear, only, not as much or as fast as I would like. My excuse is that recovering the use of limbs takes an inordenate amount of time and takes priority. Anyway:
  • Some adulting.
  • Some writing.
  • Some paying through my nose and doing exercises to get my shoulder back, which definitely counts as self-care.
  • Quite a lot of studying.
  • Some walking.

I didn't get as much as I wanted done, partly due to having to work OT this weekend and partly due to my massive inability to do math.

I had really wanted to get the new shelf holes drilled for the Rock Cabinet - I used my 3D printer to make drilling jigs that would make it easier and more accurate. Of course it's only accurate if you enter the proper measurement, LOL. The holes in my jig went to the top of the shelf, not the bottom, which would have completely thrown the spacing off. I fixed the measurements, but the jigs take 12 1/2 hours to print, so no drilling for me. I did start running the LED lighting strip along the inside, so at least something was accomplished.

Nothing on the jewelry front, we had temps in the mid 90s most of last week, and while I have an air conditioner in my studio, it works hard in that heat and using a torch in a warm room is no fun. I did price all the earrings I finished, and got them on earring cards.

Hopefully I'll be able to get more done this week!

Update #3

Not much to update on! This weekend was a bit rough, but I did get through it.

COMPLETE:

  • I finished my FIRST session as a DM! I was so so so nervous and my players massively derailed from what I expected them to focus on, but it was so much fun. I need to set some time aside to work on what comes next...it's a little nervewracking thinking they're going to hate what I'm doing for them, but I need to remember that these are my friends and they want me to succeed!!
  • I got all my prints made for setting up tomorrow morning!! I'm very nervous about displaying my art at work, and what kind of attention it may bring-- but I removed all my signatures from them so hopefully I can continue to be anonymous as far as online is concerned.
  • We rearranged the living room! It works a LOT better than how we had it when we first moved in, and it looks and feels so nice. I still am in absolute love with this apartment, I'm so happy that we chose to move.
  • We got groceries! Quite a bit, too- I'm hoping they'll help me stop buying so much damn takeout. It was fine when we first moved in, but now that we're settled it's time to cook!

TO DO:

  • Prepare session 2!
  • Get rid of some boxes!
  • Please go to the DMV and get things sorted, I am begging you.
  • DRAW LOLLL PLEASEEEE
lauand: (Gojyo - Fuck up)
[personal profile] lauand

Between both days:

  • Went to the phisio. The improvement wasn't as espectacular as I would have wished, but at least it's marginally better?
  • Did light exercises for the shoulder.
  • Studied a bit.
  • Walked 2 hours to cat-sit for the last time because the owner is back in town. I'm actually going to miss those walks, alone in the summer nights with my headphones on, but I can't bring myself to do it without a very clear purpose. Transport is always a means for me.
  • Did some adulting of the unpleasant kind. That's always a struggle.
  • Worked on Red Tape Project 1. Included researching the law, so I'm kind of giving myself a medal for that.

Images below...

This project was started in January-February of this year and has been worked at off and on. I fiiiinally got through the last few panels. AND IT IS FINISHED!!

The extension of the hood was a flannel layer that was quilted over. The jacket has been modded a lot over the years (since ~2017! it is a very old jacket) by various people.

It is a little wonky in some places. Hand-stitching without a pattern will do that.
