Zero-drafted a book description, but it'll take a few more drafts to swot it into compelling marketing copy. (MarComm is not my wheelhouse.) Started proofing book 1, but didn't finish: found more to fix than expected/hoped. (I am more addicted to complicated sentences, and unnecessary parentheticals, than I like to admit.) Which means this is more a copyedit than proofing pass, sigh. Brainstormed two possible cover treatments, but didn't mock either up.

Goal for the weekend: Proofread/copyedit the first two books, get marketing description to first draft. Stretch goals: Review book three, mock up one cover treatment.

Eventually, I'll have to poke at CreateSpace templates and make decisions about trim size and fonts -- but not spend too much time down a rabbit hole. Book design is fun, but can be finicky. Good enough is good enough for this.

Oct 4 & 5; To Do and Ta Da

Oct 4: (ta da!) Did those pesky chores. Got some stitching in.

Oct 5: (to do) Sewing rather than knitting. I'd really like to see a more accomplished item before I go to D&D Saturday. I will likely bring knitting with me there for breaks, so progress will happen.

Let's go team! It's about to be the weekend! (If you're in retail, you have my deepest sympathies.) Are we tackling our projects? maybe. Are we in this together? HECK YES WE ARE.

Yesterday I did approximately fuck-all.

(Well. Fuck-all related to this challenge. Important things in other aspects of my life.)

Today I am following up on the text convo with the people running the craft fair I heard about, and then I am putting together a task list for getting my business up and running, which will involve a bunch of reading about what those tasks should be. I am also possibly scheduling a time to talk with my uncle (who ran a successful restaurant for years) about my business plan. And I think I am medicated well enough against the racking cough and snot fountain that I can resume fiber art, so I believe I am going to set up my big loom.

(Big compared to my other looms. I can weave a shawl on it but I have to do it in sections.)

Update 8:30p: I followed up with the craft fair person, and pinged my aunt and uncle (have heard back from my aunt, who is the one who told me to talk to my uncle to begin with), and utterly failed to do anything else.

I mean the night's still young, but. Medicated or not, I'm still sick, and I have clearly been walking way too much this past week and my poor joints are in revolt. Owww.

OK, again, this is not a fandom that I think most here know. Alliance-Union is a loosely connected set of science fiction novels about an interstellar conflict between Earth and its colonies in outer space. On the planet Cyteen, a group of scientists has set up cloning as an industry to provide labor to allow expansion on their semi-habitable planet and beyond. These cloned slaves (for that is what they really are) are known as azi.

In opening chapters of the novel Cyteen, in the science city Reseune, a brilliant and dictatorial researcher named Ariane Emory is murdered. A few years later, in Reseune's labs, a little girl named Ariane Emory is born ... and proceeds to grow up in very strange circumstances.

Hakkai as Captain Flint, other characters will be announced separately as they appear. I have several scenes/drabbles in mind... (puddingcat is partially to blame for the crossover :P) Kind of very spoilery if you haven't seen the series?
