larryhammer: animation of the kanji for four seasonal birds fading into each other in endless cycle (Japanese poetry)
[personal profile] larryhammer
Entered marked-up changes to the Introduction, and made a second edit pass. Then I found a chunk of unfinished draft intended for an expanded introduction, discursive about Japanese seasons, and adapted part of it into an explanation of the dual calendars in use during the Heian era. Shoved that in, and made a third pass with a belt sander.

Plus pondered cover designs, and made notes about front matter TBD.

Plan for today: One more edit pass through the Intro for flow, then copy this working text into my two main working files. If I have time, review the poet biographies and (stretch) enter any changes. If I have downtime during my 4 hour afternoon meeting (!), play with cover designs.

How're we doing crew? Holding up during the mid-week slump? Progress is good, but don't forget to hydrate and take breaks!

Oct 2: Cut the appropriate things, pinned the quilt sandwich, and started hand-quilting! Late night, potato Instagram pic! I stepped outside my color comfort zone and kinda think it's working.
also uploaded an icon!

Plans for today Oct 3: I'm counting this morning's two rows of the heel flap as sock progress, and would like to continue that.
If no sock knitting, then further quilting. insert Road to El Dorado "Both? Both." gif

I'm realizing what thimbles are for. Yike. Punching through several layers of fabric + batting had me trying to figure out how to wear/use a thimble and still make progress. I still got more done than I had anticipated and I'm calling it a win.

[I will mostly be doing these the day after instead of the day of.]

Format: Ficlet, but I'm nearly entering drabble territory now.
Warnings: None
Notes: Short piece inspired by one of the pictures shared by indelicateink in the general prompt post. At some point I'll manage to lower the word count, dammit. Why am I writing so much gen lately? I thought I was here for the porn, dammit...  Again, unbetaed.

Here we go with attempt #1 at getting a dragon scale texture in yarn. Far too open for what’s going to be leggings and a bodice! (Ignore the colour - I’m futzing around in whatever was left over from Cap’s outfit).

Next attempt is on the needles- will post tomorrow 😁

I wrote yesterday's prompt today (the 3rd) and produced a Babylon 5 drabble. I've never written a drabble before, and it feels very incomplete.

Fandom: Babylon 5
Rating: G
Character: Jeffery Sinclair
Length: 100 words
Warnings: Spoilers for Sinclair's fate

The story: A drabble )

Onward to today's prompt.

Was too exhausted to dash off a quick update yesterday, and today's will be brief for the same reason. Brutal honesty, yesterday I was too wiped energy-wise and mentally to make anything happen. But tonight I look forward to more character design. Fatigue is keeping me from making any major inroads, but I'm still plugging away. I hope I have something to show at the end of the month (i.e., instead of just writing about it, lol); this pace makes me think show-and-tell's not happening sooner, but that works!

Angela of TheOrganizedAlchemist.com is running a week-long challenge on getting organized. I am catching up. I'm kinda stuck on the "braindump all your tasks into a single list" bit that precedes "sort them into Trello"—if I could remember all the tasks that need doing, I wouldn't hardly need Trello, now would I?

No fiber arts today, still sneezing my goddamn head off.

I found a "Fictober" list and decided to try some drabbles and ficlets with that. Nothing actually on the page yet, but I'm percolating in my head.

I did a jewelry-related thing today and finally coughed up the $$ to buy a ring bender that will let me make spoon rings! My next craft show is in a month, so maybe I can bend a bunch of spoon handles and make some easy money. :)

I know what I want to write for my next drabble, but I'm short on sleep and it's not happening. I need to read some more of my canon re-read for Trick or Treat and get some sleep.

Laters, my friends.
