I hyperventilated at the thought of daily updates, so it's going to be Weekly for me.

Didn't do too much this past week, one of my co-workers was on vacation and OF COURSE all her jobs came in early, which meant I had her crap on top of my own.

I cleaned? I guess that's something.

And I called the kiln guy, who suspects that the pyrometer (that registers the temp inside the kiln) might be bad and wants me to check that out before I have him come over, since he charges $50 an hour. I'm going to get one of those point-and-shoot thermometer thingies from Harbor Freight this week, and then fire up the kiln and check the temps.

I also started sewing my handbag project, after much dithering and almost buying a different pattern. The outside is made of cork - it behaves like leather, which makes sewing it a little challenging. Here's a pic of the progress thus far!

The dusty green over to the right is the lining, that's next.

This week I'm going to try and finish the bag, then keep the sewing momentum going.

• HelloChinese new lesson and Duolingo review
• Got Tang Shi #40 to competent verse (but not polished, because I need the whole sequence so I can unify form & style) and #41 to literal prose; read commentaries on both poems.

Which latter should count as reading practice, despite relying on app assistance for rendering words I don’t know — at least if I read the bulk of one. Even without that, that's enough to meet the day's goal and the remainder of the previous day's missed goal — pretty good for a weekend. Woo!

Weekends! They happen!

Writing: a lot of fanfic, not much work on the novel, although I did nail down a little bit of research for the fourth of my main team members in the novel.

Meditation: I missed Saturday (there was too much wine, but oh, it was a grand time), but I did Sunday and today!

Programming: I finally sat down yesterday and beat the submission form into, well, submission: it takes in the user request for a fandom and correctly runs the query to return an assortment of pairings in that fandom. I haven't gotten it to display the results for some silly reason, but I can tell in the console it's no longer exploding in six or seven different (and wholly unreasonable) ways. Progress!

FAIL AGAIN. OMG.

Okay, I wrote half a snippet, but that's about it.
