August 17 check-in

1. Posted a translation, fourth for the week. Stretch goal! Versified one poem’s literal prose.

2. Reviewed another poem. No changes, not even touching up the language. Reviewed it again. Same result. Met goal ✅

3. 20 minutes of Bach on uke. Met goal ✅

(Note to self: be careful when typing “verify” and “versify.” Goal 1 is about versifying, goal 2 is about verifying.)

Aug 16-17

Started working on the fine silver batch that I will be enameling. For the glass enamel powder to a) stick to the metal and b) look good, everything has to be super clean, so I scrubbed all the earrings and gave them a gentle curve to help prevent cracking.

Transparent colors look best over a layer of clear enamel, so last night I sifted the clear powder on all the pieces and fired them in the kiln at 1470 degrees F. The little scraps with color are some of my color tests.



Now I have to apply clear to the backs, and then I can sift on the colors!

Now that I'm back home I'm trying to get in the swing of updating this more foten (which will maybe also make me do things more? We'll see.)

I am just finding it totally impossible to pick up video games right now. Finally gave up on a book last night 30% in because I could not focus. Started a new one and it's going much better.

Okay, let's face it, I'm blocked. I know because I've started cleaning my place to avoid drawing and adulting and exercising and I have to be really desperate to clean because I hate it. Also put a carrier on one of the bikes. And did a bit of archiving. But I mostly avoided drawing. I'LL TRY TO CHANGE THAT TODAY. Because I don't know how much time I'll have next week.
