More got done:
• HelloChinese and Duolingo reviews, both very stumbling bah.
• Read 美丽的小路 (“The Pretty Pathway”) to halfway — this is not a children’s story I recognize, but given the trash heap on the path was carelessly dumped by Mr. Duck, I suspect we’re heading for a didactic moral ending.
• On Tang Shi* #40, found two independent modern commentaries, and read one plus the glosses in the other. Need to also read the modern language translation in the other, but this was enough to figure out a reading that makes sense to me, so corrected my literal prose version. Next is versifying this puppy. (I have to say, in this sequence Li Bai is more poetically compact than I’m used to from him.)
That’s a win.
* Abbreviation for 300 Tang Poems, via the Chinese title Tang Shi San-bai Shuo.
