larryhammer: canyon landscape with saguaro and mesquite trees (canyon)

Got nothing done this weekend -- it was all adulting and parenting. Getting the kid asleep by 8pm two nights out of three counts as a win, though.

But an accounting for the month:

Project 1: This was essentially complete as of the start of the month, but I did wrap up some loose ends (mostly promotional) and sold some copies.

Project 2: Got it published yays. Even sold a few copies of this, too.

Project 3: Haven't yet gotten this submission off my (metaphoric) desk and onto someone else's. Once taxes are with the accountant, this gets my focus.

Project 4: Less than a month after getting the idea, I've got almost 100 poems in a preliminary TOC, sorted by thematic section, with a good arc within especially the first two sections. To do: keep reading around for more material, read through what I've got to weed out misfires, work the rest into a solid TOC, and then all the production tasks. A couple months of work, likely, given it needs be a low priority project. But I'm having fun, which is great.

Not all I wanted to get done, but good progress regardless. Onward!

Last check-in for the month. I am so grateful for this community and all of its support and our collective getting-shit-done. Thank you all!

* Finish an embroidery project
I did not do this, but it was probably an overcommitment to start with (like my entire life, tbh)

* Finish 3 [community profile] genprompt_bingo fics for a line (3/3)
I did this! Finished and turned them in.

* Finish character dossiers for my novel
I did some work on this but then tripped on a plot-related elephant. So I now have three new nonfiction books in my kindle waiting for me to read them and use their historical details to fix said elephant. In the end, it's still forward progress.

* Write on 26 days: 26/26
I have an annual goal of 240 days writing; these 26 put me fully on track for the quarter/year to date.

* Read 4 outstanding library books before the due date (4/4)
I read the four library books, plus one sizable nonfiction tome (Amazon tells me it was 560 pages and only 10 of those were bibliography/index, which explains why it took so damn long...) and one item off my backlog (Roshani Chokshi's The Star-Touched Queen, which was absolutely brilliant). Plus I started this week/month's book club book (Naomi Novik's Spinning Silver). Solid progress overall. I'm now 10 books into my 50-books goal for this year! And I've discovered wonderful new-to-me authors.

* 10-day meditation streak: 20/10
As I suspected I would, I fell straight off the wagon with this the minute I'd accomplished the streak, but I still made it, and practice is about picking up again, right?

I got a lot of writing done, which was great, yay!, but what I intended to do at the start of the month often got derailed by new ideas, which is totally on-brand for me.
  1. "A Big Day Out (and In)": I got more written, and posted a new chapter of it to AO3.

  2. "Heathens": Got a lot more written but it still isn't finished. It's also harder to get a beta since it's Weiß Kreuz.

  3. "Kann denn Liebe Sünde sein?": No progress. Also, see above about Weiß Kreuz, only doubled because this WIP is also massive.

  4. "Naming and Being": Started, finished, posted.

  5. "In All Honesty": I've gotten a really big start, but it's still in progress. I'm mulling over the recent comments my beta made, and there's still more to write.

  6. A start to the Saiyuki gen fic I mentioned in my first March post.

I'd like to thank everyone for their encouragement along the way! And, of course, [personal profile] lauand for organizing it. I wrote nothing in February, and you guys helped get me going again.
