I did some writing on "Heathens" and started the short gen Saiyuki fic. I'm not sure where the Saiyuki thing will go because I've already had to shift the concept a bit from something more visual and exciting to something that makes more sense. (Some people would tell me to write my id, but my writing never succeeds that way. If I'm already nitpicking it....)

Back in the day when I had a lot of people willing to read my WIPs and talk to me about stuff, it was much easier for me to write, because they would inspire me and give me the drive to push on or talking about my writing problems would either allow me to find a solution myself or figure something out from what they said. It's no coincidence that I was most prolific in the era when IMs were king. Anyway, these are the problems on the big three WIPs I mentioned in my last post to [community profile] letsgetshitdone.

So I haven't figured out the larger project I'm working on, but I got some shit done this weekend and want to take credit for it.

* Project 1 -- Komachi's poetry. Friday was publication day for one of the two projects I started after the October book, and this weekend I revised all previous books to include it in the "Also By" lists, and reconciled differences between then in formatting and wording. Uploaded two of these, pending a couple other corrections in others.

* Project 2 -- 100 People. The other project I started was a revised edition of my first collection of translations, including reworking about a quarter of the poems based on better understanding. I have a final print proof, of which I proofed about 20 pages.

Plan for this week is finish the above, in some order: complete the corrections & upload; proofread the last 40-or-so pages; enter corrections; and then final production activities and publish. All are things I can't do at work during lunch, unfortunately, so haave to be squeezed in after the kid's bedtime. Since I'll be running things solo tonight, not much is likely to get done, but I'll try anyway.

Trying for publication of the revised edition by Friday, but will accept Monday if that's how the cookie crumbles. After that, need to figure out what I'm doing. And post it here for accountability.

I... did not do any crafting over the weekend. I had a Friday-Sunday headache that put me completely down Sunday, and kind of impacted me DMing D&D on Saturday. (I finished the game, but the last hour was really rough.)

I did mail off the headband to SiL-J, so I have room in my life for a new project.

March Write Every Day: posted

stake everything total word count:
11:15: 2458. I may need to sit down with a beat sheet, because if I clip out everything that's utterly bare-bones here, it drops to under 900. If I cut that to dialogue and speaker like the rest, it's only 350. So I figure I can reasonably expect 4000–4500 words where I currently have 1500. And if what I've got takes me right to the 1/4 mark? Then this sucker will break 20K, and structurally I should treat it like a novella, not a short story!
12:50: 2458 still but I think I'm happy with the beat sheet so that's progress worth noting.
13:30: 2574
18:00: 2574 still, but like three hundred words of poking at why I'm stuck this time, plus a few more bullet points on the intervening story.

Been working on a rough draft of the poster. Like some of you have posted, sometimes it's nigh immmmmmmmmmmmpossible to get the motivation going, and I've been struggling with that. But I finally got to a place where I wanted to do it more than I didn't, turned down all the critical thoughts, and chipped away at the work.

This is going to be a very short update:

Today I've only learned a bit of Icelandic (my daily 5 minutes of vocabulary plus another short unit of the course online). I managed to fix some burocratic stuff and I went to the swimming pool because, with my knee, that's the only kind of sport I can manage and my knees (both of them) were sort of asking for it. I had another bit of social life, which sounds weird because I'm having a lot of it these days and that's strange in me, but it's also necessary.

I really hope tomorrow is better.
